In the ocean depths the new living being is discovered

The research group, headed by professor from the Florida university by Leonid Moroz, established that the organism, discovered in the waters Of baltiki in 1949, relates to the new type of animals. About this discovery reports the scientific journal Nature.

According to the data of genetic analysis, the essence, which presents the kind of ksenoturbella (Xenoturbella), which outwardly resembles the worm, is the representative of the group, which gave beginning to vertebrates, and also lantsetnikam and Trunicata. Initially genetic tests showed that ksenoturbella relates to the mollusks. However, as it was explained, DNA of mollusks fell into the investigated material as a result of the fact that this essence feeds by the eggs of mollusks, and it is evolutionarily shrewd from them not very far.

Carry ouied in Moroz's laboratory the more precise study of genome, which included identification of approximately 1300 genes from DNA of nuclei and mitochondria of the cells of ksenoturbelly, confirmed that the kind of these animals must be related to separate type. Above through the classification of the living beings are located only reigns.

Animal reaches four centimeters in the length. The mechanism of the multiplication of ksenoturbell is not thus far clear. They do not have the digestive tract and the centralized brain. Last fact led researchers to the important conclusion that the central nervous system arose in the course of evolution twice. This assumption to a considerable degree refines scientific ideas about the motion of the evolution of the brain.
